Meet the Artist
Hey there, Im Sami! I’m so glad you came to check out my art. I’m a 24 year old character artist and illustrator from Los Angeles, CA. I’m a recent graduate from California College of the Artist with my BFA in animation. Some of my biggest accomplishments are creating a full-length short film inspired by my personal experience with body dysmorphia, getting a Merit-based scholarship into college, completing a CTN drawing program right after going through a major surgery and also graduating on time after going through a life changing mental health breakthrough.
A lot of the inspiration for my art comes from my personal experiences, but I’m super inspired by some of my favorite LQBTQ animated series. I’m a huge fan of Netflix original series and niche student short films. One of my main illustration influences would have to be Jamie Hewl, illustrator for the band GORILLAZ—bring back 2D animation! My dream job would be working for a company who is super diverse, inclusive and is open to exploring mental health awareness further.
